Tutorial
The HTML Previewer lets you write and test HTML, CSS and JavaScript directly in your browser. You can see how your code looks in real time, test different screen sizes and download your finished work as an HTML file.
1. Open the HTML Previewer
Open the tool in your browser. The editor contains three separate sections:
- HTML: Add your page structure and content.
- CSS: Control colors, fonts, spacing and layout.
- JavaScript: Add interactive features and functionality.
A starter example is already included so you can begin experimenting immediately.
2. Write or Edit HTML
Use the HTML editor to create your page structure. You can add headings, paragraphs, images, links, buttons and other HTML elements.
For example:
<h1>My First Website</h1>
<p>Welcome to my website!</p>
3. Add CSS Styling
Switch to the CSS editor to customize the appearance of your page.
You can change:
- Background colors
- Text colors and fonts
- Margins and padding
- Element sizes
- Borders and rounded corners
- Page layouts
Changes become visible when you update the preview.
4. Add JavaScript
Use the JavaScript editor to add interactive functionality.
For example, you can create button actions, simple calculations, dynamic content and other browser-based features.
5. Run the Live Preview
Click Run Preview to display your HTML page.
The preview runs in a separate area, allowing you to compare your code with the rendered result.
Click the button again whenever you want to apply your latest changes.
6. Test Responsive Layouts
Use the preview width selector to test your page at different screen sizes.
Available options include:
- Responsive
- Desktop
- Tablet landscape
- Tablet portrait
- Mobile
- Small mobile
This makes it easier to identify layout problems before publishing your website.
7. Import an Existing HTML File
Click Import HTML and select an HTML file from your computer.
The tool will attempt to separate embedded HTML, CSS and JavaScript into the corresponding editors. Review the imported code before continuing.
8. Download Your HTML File
When you are happy with your result, click Download HTML.
The tool combines your HTML, CSS and JavaScript into one downloadable HTML document that you can save and open in your browser.
